How Should You Feed a Yorkshire Terrier Puppy After It Comes Home?

1. Always keep a bowl of clean water available.
2. Do not feed the dog cat food that is high in protein.
3. Food should be served at room temperature. Never give the Yorkshire Terrier food that has just been taken out of the refrigerator.
4. Use food made by a regular and reliable manufacturer.
5. Do not feed spoiled or stale food.
6. Throw away any uneaten canned food or food that has become damp. Do not try to save money by keeping it. If the Yorkshire Terrier becomes sick from stale food, the consequences will be far worse.
7. Every evening, throw away leftover dry food instead of leaving it sitting in the food bowl overnight, because that easily attracts bacteria and insects.
8. Watch your Yorkshire Terrier's weight at all times and do not let it become overweight.

9. Do not feed hard, sharp bones such as pork bones.
10. If several Yorkshire Terriers live in the same home, even if they seem willing to eat from one bowl, it is still best to feed them separately.
11. If your Yorkshire Terrier is already overweight, increase activity and reduce food. You can also ask a veterinarian about lower-calorie slimming food. Sometimes reducing to about sixty percent of the standard calorie intake is needed to return to ideal weight.
12. If your Yorkshire Terrier refuses food for 24 hours, that is already a sign of illness, and veterinary advice should be sought immediately.
