In cold winter weather, people naturally prepare warm clothing for themselves to avoid getting sick, and a Yorkshire Terrier also needs support against the cold. Winter can be a real test for this breed. Without proper warming measures, a Yorkie may easily develop health problems because of owner mistakes. If you want your Yorkshire Terrier to get through winter comfortably, careful daily care is essential.
1. Adding clothing is the simplest method. However, Yorkshire Terriers are long-haired dogs, and clothing can easily create tangles. If you brush the dog every day, tangling will be less of a problem.
2. If your Yorkie rarely goes outside, you still need to make sure the indoor temperature is not too low. Heating with air conditioning or a safe space heater can help.
3. In winter, warm food is better, and warm water is preferable for drinking. Some owners also add a little glucose to the water in special situations.
4. Prepare a dog bed of suitable size. A hot water bottle, heat patch, or pet electric blanket can be placed inside, but safety must always come first when using such warming tools.
5. Take the dog outdoors for exercise whenever the weather is comfortable enough. Do not keep a Yorkshire Terrier shut inside all day. When the morning or afternoon temperature is mild, short walks and movement help keep the body strong.

The long golden coat should be kept smooth and free of tangles through regular maintenance.
