Although the Cane Corso belongs to the category of fierce dogs, it also has a quiet and gentlemanly side, which makes it quite suitable for family life. Owners should create a warm home environment for it. The Cane Corso is deeply attached to its owner and very loyal, so it is often best to treat it like a member of the family. At the same time, however, the breed can be stubborn, which means training methods need to be chosen carefully. Its obedience must be developed, otherwise the consequences may become serious. It is generally not recommended to keep a Cane Corso locked on a balcony or in a cage, because that is harmful to its physical and psychological development. Many beginners worry about problems such as house soiling, shedding, or chewing, but in reality the Cane Corso is intelligent, lively, and enthusiastic. If the owner uses the right methods, it can quickly become an obedient and clever companion dog.
1: Feed the Cane Corso at fixed times, in fixed amounts, and in a fixed place. Timed feeding helps develop a conditioned reflex, promotes gastric juice secretion, increases appetite, and supports digestion and absorption. Fixed portions help prevent digestive problems. A fixed location keeps the environment stable and easier to manage. Some dogs may refuse food or lose appetite if their feeding place is changed frequently.
2: Except in hot summer weather, it is best to feed the Cane Corso warm food. Food that is too hot may harm appetite and even burn the dog's mouth or teeth, while food that is too cold can upset the stomach.
3: Each Cane Corso should have its own feeding utensils. These should not be mixed with other animals' bowls in order to prevent disease transmission. After feeding, the utensils should be cleaned and disinfected regularly, even boiled when needed.
