Many people are attracted by the Doberman’s noble temperament. The Doberman is lively, lovely, and very intelligent. It is often used as a military or police dog because it has developed muscles, a powerful bite, a sharp sense of smell, and strong search ability, making it highly suitable as a working dog. Do not bathe too frequently
Bathing can make a dog cleaner and more attractive, but the Doberman is not suitable for overly frequent bathing. Too much bathing washes away the oils naturally secreted by the skin, and those oils help protect it. Frequent bathing can damage the skin and make infection easier. Therefore, when raising a Doberman, do not bathe it excessively.
Do not casually feed human food
Most dogs today are fed with specialized dog food, but that does not mean their diet should be handled carelessly. Many owners want to add snacks or meat from time to time. When raising a Doberman, however, owners should remember that its digestive system is relatively delicate and is not suited to a random mix of rich leftovers, coarse mixed foods, and snacks. A better approach is high-quality dog food combined with clean vegetables and balanced nutrition. That helps protect the Doberman’s stomach and intestines and supports strong growth.
Do not rely on chewing bones or drinking bone broth to supplement calcium
Many people instinctively think that the best way to deal with calcium deficiency is to chew large bones or drink bone broth. For a young Doberman, however, the digestive system is still weak, and eating bones can easily cause gastrointestinal problems. If calcium supplementation is really needed, calcium powder or veterinary-approved calcium products are generally more effective and safer than bones.
Do not give medicine casually when the dog is sick
When a Doberman is ill, for example with a cold or fever, many owners feel that it is not serious and simply give human cold medicine or children’s medicine. But the dog’s physical constitution is very different from a human’s. Some drugs may cause allergic reactions, and in severe cases can even be fatal. Medicine must never be given blindly. When a Doberman gets sick, it should be taken to a professional pet hospital for diagnosis and treatment.
Different breeds need somewhat different care methods. Dogs are humanity’s best friends, and once you decide to keep one, you should take responsibility for it and care for it well. By now, owners should have a better understanding of the points that matter in raising a Doberman, and should use more love and patience to care for it properly.
