Why does a Samoyed's nose lose color?
A Samoyed's nose may fade because of environmental temperature. The enzyme involved in melanin deposition in the nose is highly temperature-sensitive and works more actively in warm environments. As a result, a dog's nose may fade in winter and return to a darker color in summer. In some cases, poor nutrition may also contribute.

Diseases or conditions that can cause a fading nose
1. Vitiligo-like immune disease may cause loss of pigment. Dogs with this condition may develop white patches on the skin, and dietary management may help reduce some related symptoms.
2. Some dogs regularly contact plastic food bowls and may be sensitive to them. This can trigger contact dermatitis, nose fading, and even swelling of the lips. In such cases, replacing the plastic bowl with stainless steel may solve the problem.
3. A so-called ?snow nose? or otherwise unusual nose color may arise from hereditary causes, autoimmune causes, or reasons that remain unclear.
4. General reduction in skin pigmentation can also lighten the nose.
5. If the nose has been scratched, rubbed, or otherwise injured, or if the dog has gone through another illness or even severe stress, the nose may temporarily turn pink and then regain color as the tissue heals.
