More and more people have been raising Poodles in recent years, and many of them are first-time Poodle owners. That means it is easy to fall into misunderstandings during daily care. Here is a summary of important taboos in feeding and raising a Poodle so that owners can avoid harming their dogs unintentionally.

1. Letting the dog overeat
Do not allow a Poodle to eat excessively. Poodles do not need huge amounts of food, and long-term overeating only increases the burden on the stomach and intestines, which may lead to diarrhea and other digestive problems.
Control portion size carefully and avoid binge feeding. If you already have that habit, correct it as soon as possible.

2. Feeding random foods too often
Owners should not casually give whatever food they are holding to a Poodle, because there are quite a few things dogs should not eat.
In particular, grapes and chocolate are dangerous and can even be fatal. Constantly feeding too many mixed foods may also lead to nutritional imbalance.
3. Giving fish bones
Dogs love bones, and Poodles are no exception, but not all bones are suitable. Fish bones are fine and sharp, and if eaten in quantity they may injure the stomach or intestines and can even cause gastrointestinal bleeding.

4. Feeding salty food
Do not let a Poodle eat too many foods high in salt. Excess salt may contribute to coat fading, tear stains, and kidney-related issues.
A light diet is better. If your Poodle mainly eats dog food, choose a high-quality natural formula with relatively low salt.

5. Feeding too much organ meat
Many people think meat and organ meats are highly nutritious, but just because a Poodle likes organ meat does not mean it should be fed often. Too much organ meat can put extra pressure on the stomach.
It may also raise cholesterol and increase the risk of internal heat, calcium deficiency, or vitamin A toxicity. Feeding organ meat two or three times a week is usually enough.
