1. Look at the Teddy's Spirit
See whether your Teddy is as lively as usual lately and whether it responds enthusiastically when you call its name. A healthy Teddy is very active and affectionate toward its owner. If your Teddy seems downcast, slow, or expressionless, it may be sick.
2. Look at the Teddy's Appetite
Observe whether the Teddy has an appetite, how much it eats, and whether it is picky or refuses food. A healthy Teddy is excited at feeding time, eats quickly, maintains a stable food intake, and is not picky. A sick dog may have a poor appetite, eat less, prefer cold water or plain water, pick at food, or refuse it.
3. Check for Vomiting
Notice whether the Teddy vomits after eating or whether you find vomit while cleaning up. Also pay attention to the color, shape, and contents of the vomit. A healthy Teddy does not vomit. Vomiting usually appears when the dog has an infectious illness, digestive trouble, or another medical problem.
4. Look at the Stool
Mainly observe the shape, color, consistency, and contents of the Teddy's stool. Healthy feces are formed, moist, and vary in color according to diet, without a particularly foul smell. Loose stool, blood in the stool, a bad odor, or stool that is too dry, hard, or scanty can all suggest disease.
5. Watch the Teddy's Posture
Check whether the Teddy stands, lies down, or sits normally, and whether it limps or staggers while moving. A healthy dog moves naturally, lightly, and follows commands. A sick dog may resist commands, move unnaturally, or show signs of pain when asked to act.
6. Look at the Eyes
Check whether the eyes are red or swollen, whether there is tearing, whether the cornea is cloudy, and whether there is discharge in the corners of the eyes. A healthy Teddy has bright eyes, clean eye surroundings, no tearing, and pink conjunctiva. Dull eyes, dirty eye corners, or red conjunctiva may point to eye disease or digestive trouble.
7. Look at the Nose
Changes in the nose are an important sign for judging whether a Teddy may be unwell. A healthy Teddy's nose tip is cool and moist, sometimes with tiny droplets. If the nose becomes dry, or if there is serous, mucous, or purulent discharge from the nostrils, that usually indicates illness.
8. Check the Mouth
Look for redness, swelling, ulcers, rotten patches, unusual odor, or difficulty swallowing. A healthy Teddy's mouth is clean, moist, pink, and free of bad breath and drooling. If the mouth is inflamed, drooling is present, or there is strong odor, the dog may be ill.
9. Check the Anus
See whether the area around the anus is clean and whether there are foreign materials, feces stuck to the fur, inflammation, swelling, or ulcers. In a healthy Teddy, the area around the anus is clean and free of debris. If feces are attached or the area is red and swollen, it may be related to digestive disease, infection, or local inflammation.
10. Look at the Skin
Observe whether the coat is shedding excessively, whether the skin remains elastic, and whether there are rashes, blisters, scabs, or ulcers. A healthy Teddy has a smooth, glossy coat and good skin elasticity. If the coat keeps falling out, becomes rough and dull, or the skin turns dry, inelastic, scabby, or ulcerated, that is a sign of poor health.
