Teacup dogs need different feeding times and methods at different stages of life, so owners should use different approaches according to the dog's age. If the feeding schedule or frequency is not handled properly, healthy growth will be affected.

Feeding a Young Teacup Dog
Young teacup dogs should be fed small meals more frequently. The younger the puppy, the more often it should eat. For example, a newly weaned puppy may need to eat five or six times a day, which means feeding about every four hours. As the dog grows, its eating habits change, and frequent feeding is no longer necessary every day.

Feeding an Adult Teacup Dog
Once the dog reaches adulthood, one or two regular meals a day are usually enough. If the owner feeds only once a day, that meal can be around 8 a.m. or around 7 p.m., and the portion should be large enough to meet the dog's needs. If feeding twice a day, the two meals can be morning and evening, around 7 to 8 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. In that case, the daily food should simply be divided into two portions.

During puppyhood, teacup dogs are still growing and need a lot of nutrition, so the feeding principle should be small amounts given often. Once they grow up, one or two meals per day is enough as long as they are fed on time and taught to develop good eating habits.
